A whispering of loneliness

When the whispering of this world reaches our ears, we should listen.

While I am sitting on my bench and looking at the sunset, my mind wander about how this planet has been changed in the last fifty years of my life. I never had, fifty years ago, the slightest idea how lonely we are in the Universe. Even that we are lonely in our own solar system.

Still, we won’t listen to that whisper. A whisper that tells us that this world is becoming unlivable and hostile to all living things. We have to listen to that distant whisper of despair and hopelessness.

And while the sun has disappeared and the night is falling, I begin to see the twinkling stars.

Our planet is trying to speak to us. Trying to tell us something. Is trying to warn us. The woods are whispering a warning, also the silence sea has started a song of warning. Even the birds have stopped singing, they are muffled by the noise of the cities and the airplanes.

Why do we not listen to the whispering and songs of this beautiful planet? Such a beautiful music from what our lives depend on. We must become aware how lonely we are and how vulnerable we are as a planet. As we are part of the Universe, we should be aware how rare this planet is with all that beautiful life living on it.

There is that whispering of loneliness we hear, but deaf to react on it. We as Human beings have a gift, the gift of intelligence. Sadly, the evolution hasn’t given us civilization. It just has given us the tools to start with, but we never started, except with our “civilized” technology we have created.

We are still as Humans very lonely in this infinite Universe. We put our fingers in our ears. We won’t listen. We are just running aimlessly to an unknown destination. While the whispering is following us.

Somewhere in the coming decades we will have to change, a change that will create a society and a planet that has a future for every living being. Then the whispering will become a soft purr which will sound as sweet as music.

Then we will be aware of our loneliness and then we will handle all living things with respect and carefulness. Then we will know how dependent we are of our beautiful planet.

The whispering of loneliness will become the whispering of hope.
