Finally found peace after a hectic day. A final touch to my work. Consultation with the customer about the result. Yet another new assignment.
I need to get my supply of canvas back up to standard. Sketchbook is full. I also have to order those quickly. Orders completed.
Shadows of the surrounding trees play cat and mouse with my eyes. Even my glass is empty. No desire to get up. Sink back into my folding chair. Soak up the freedom of the environment. How precious is freedom. How precious in this uncertain world in which freedoms are increasingly crumbling. Search music about freedom, find “Ancora — Vrijheid” is only in Dutch.
Freedom is a complex and often confusing concept. What kind of freedom is meant? Political freedom? Social freedom? Freedom of behavior or freedom of speech? Freedom to live as one thinks is right. Freedom experienced from a personal perspective. The complexity of freedom is used inappropriately to condone one’s own behavior.
Art without freedom from the expression of your creative ideas is doomed to die a silent death. Being allowed to do art, in whatever form, is a great asset in any society.
