Love to read comic strips. Laughter is wonderful. In my studio there are many comics. When I get stuck in my work as an artist, I flip through my comics and laugh. Works well against stress.
Sometimes I look through my studio window and laugh at the people walking by. Someone once said: “Laughter that beholds Man”. Laughter is healthy! I lean back and listen to Minnie Riperton’s song “Lovin’ You.” Laugh absentmindedly and am always touched. Because of this. Beautiful voice. Laugh at the beauty of things. Laugh at myself. My ambition and drive.
That everything passes and things that never come back. Thinking that you have all the time of the world. Smile. Get up walk into my little garden. The sun smiles at me. Take my sketchbook on my lap. Smile and wave at my neighbor.
Laughter mirrors laughter. The sun warms my spirit. Laughter puts into perspective, simplifies the things of life and things as they come. Everything is green again. Try to turn my idea into a sketch. My pencil floats across the paper and laughs at me.
A jackdaw flies into my little garden and drinks from the birdbath. His/her clever gaze stays fixed on me for a moment. Gone he/she is. How fragile life is.
Planes come over in regularity. Schiphol Airport is nearby. I smile again. A genuine smile gives a moment of the child in us. For a moment the pressure falls…
