Rear Window

Most of you will remember the great movie “Rear Window” made by Alfred Hitchcock, with the actors such as James Stewart and Grace Kelly to name a view.

I got the strange vision as I am sitting in front of a rear window and watch the world as in a courtyard, going by.

It is a hot day and night and I watch my neighbors with their open windows to stay cool of the heat of this world. A world were in people shows strange behaviors as things are happening, the lonely people, the ambitious people and all the people in every stage of their lives.

The heat is like the pandemic we are going through nowadays. Those people trying to adapt to live with this pandemic and also try to resists the outcomes of it. We are thinking about solutions, we are thinking in strange and dangerous solutions.

We are forgetting that the only thing which is important is the HUMAN itself. We are thinking about economic solutions, and new vaccine against this pandemic, reopen business as usual and so on, but we are forgetting ourselves!

In the mean time while I am watching the world going by, I get visit from a wise woman who try to explain all the things I am looking to. She smiles about the way people behave. She smiles about how people react. She tells me that as time goes by that those people will never ever learn. They will do the same things as they did before. So she tells me that we will always make the same mistakes.

Even when the bad guy Thorwald played by Raymond Burr has been unmasked as the killer of his wife. There will always be bad guys who try to misuse the circumstances we live in. Try to change the law for their benefit and create a dictatorship. You can watch it happen in several countries around the world already.

The woman smiles again and she knew what should happen. At the end of the heat wave a gentle coolness is making the courtyard livable again. She starts reading a magazine and I fall asleep, now with two broken legs. After all you can’t unmask the hidden evil in this world without being touched by it at the end.
