Forced silence … By Mark Pol

The messenger of bad news was always killed by the King. That’s the way it always was. It shouldn’t but the truth has always sparked fear. If you kill the messenger you will kill the truth, but the truth is always harsh and unpleasant. Truth has no feelings. Truth won’t let you laugh, maybe sometimes it does. We, as Humans, try always to bury the Truth.

If you see the reactions of dictators in a number of countries today about the Covid-19 and see their strange behavior about the truth of Covid-19. That’s the way they tried to kill the truth. They can’t fight it; they can’t kill it. They can’t see it. They can’t throw it in jail. So, the next thing they do is to denial the virus. They start to denial the existence of it. As result a lot of people die useless because of the denial of the truth.

Truth is a many splendid things, but not for us as Humans. There is a problem with the truth: fake news. We are trying to create an alternative truth. We are creating a truth for which we are not afraid of. We bend the truth so that we can live with it. Creating a new fairy tale, a new magic. A fairy tale wherein we be able to control the outcome.

Fact checking: should that be a way to unmask the lie? Are we then sure that the truth has been demonstrated? We must double check the so-called facts. We are entering a society wherein the facts more and more are influenced by AI: deep fake, alternative worlds, faked social media and dark websites.

The most dangerous thing is when the political are influenced by AI and of course enough money to let it happen.

This a quote out of “Gardner’s Art through the Ages”:

“For the Greek, humanity was what mattered, and humans were, in the words of the philosopher Protagoras, the “measure of all things”. This humanistic worldview led the Greek to create the concept of democracy (rule by the demos, the people) and to make seminal contributions in the fields of art, literature, and science. The Greek exaltation of humanity and honoring of the individual are to completely part of modern Western habits of mind that most people are scarcely aware that these ideas originated in the mind of the Greeks”.

Today it should be the same: humanity and the truth should matter. Are we loosing our democracy and is there a big chance that democracy will be replaced by fascism? Is the truth the same as humanity and honoring the individual as part in our modern Western habits of our minds? Humanity and the truth should be taken back in our thinking now and in the future!

If we are losing the truth and our humanity, what will become of this society, what will become of the world were our children will live in? Is the truth and humanity on the same level in our thinking of our existence?

I am not sure. I am not sure we are on the right path to the future. We are on the path of losing ourself into an unlivable world. Unlivable with our own lies and loosing this planet as a place where it once was a paradise. Killing the animals, killing the forest, killing the oceans. And at the end killing ourself by denying the Truth.
